There’s something magical about holding a story you’ve been waiting for, turning to the first page, and stepping into another time. That moment is almost here.
I’m thrilled to share that my newest novel, Whispers of Her Worth — A Hotel Hamilton Novel — is officially available for preorder starting today. The book releases on October 21, 2025, but you don’t have to wait until launch day to secure your copy.
Every novel I write is a journey into the forgotten corners of history, and Whispers of Her Worth is no exception.
Set in 1928 Canada, this story unfolds in the very year the Supreme Court declared women were not legally recognized as “persons.” Imagine the weight of that ruling, the silence it enforced, and the women it erased.
Inside the gilded walls of The Hotel Hamilton, sisters Clara and Louisa Wilson confront those questions in their own lives. Their private struggles mirror the public battle for women’s voices to be acknowledged — a reminder that history is never only about dates and rulings, but about the lives shaped by them.
A kerfuffle of some variety is taking place at the end of the hall. As I draw near, I realize the sound is coming from inside guest room 538. A few maids are huddled close and spilling out into the hall. Upon seeing me, their chins drop to their chests, and they part like the Red Sea.
I am about to open my mouth to offer a reprimand for their unbecoming behaviour when I spot a guest, seated at the end of an unmade bed, her eyes glued to a box radio on top of a short table.
“You are listening to CKWX. The news is official out of Ottawa this morning. The Supreme Court of Canada has issued a ruling with regards to the Person’s Case. They have ruled that women are not—I repeat, are not—qualified persons.”
This short passage captures the tension and the emotion that runs throughout the novel. Clara and Louisa’s voices echo the resilience of countless women, their choices pushing against the boundaries of their time.
Preordering isn’t just about reserving a copy. It’s about becoming part of the story before it even begins. Here’s why it matters:
Guarantee your copy. Be one of the first to step into Clara and Louisa’s world the moment the book is released.
Show support early. Preorders help books gain visibility, making it easier for other readers to discover the story.
Be part of the anticipation. There’s joy in knowing you’re reading alongside others who are just as eager.
And this time, there’s something extra special…
When you preorder Whispers of Her Worth through my Shopify store, you’ll unlock:
✨ A special preorder discount
✨ An invitation to a private virtual reader event on November 15, 2025
At this event, we’ll gather together to talk about the novel, the history that inspired it, and your questions about the writing process. It’s my way of saying thank you for walking this journey with me.
Of course, the book is also available for preorder at Amazon and your other favorite online retailers. But only Shopify buyers will receive this exclusive bonus.
If you’ve read the earlier Hotel Hamilton books (Welcome to the Hamilton, Meet Me at the Clock, Cocktails Before Midnight), you’ll feel familiar echoes within these pages.
But if Whispers of Her Worth is your first Hotel Hamilton novel, don’t worry — this story stands entirely on its own. Clara and Louisa’s journey is new, fresh, and accessible, even if you’re stepping into The Hotel Hamilton for the first time.
Writing this story reminded me of the power of whispers — the quiet moments that shape lives, and the strength of voices that refuse to be silenced.
I cannot wait for you to connect with Clara and Louisa.
